Hoshimi is a mysterious, old, priestess-like figure, who tracks the actions of Contractors at the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan.
Background[]
She tracks the activity of Contractors from the Observatory, where she is connected to the systems there by a neurological helmet. Kanami Ishizaki notes that she has only spoken once before, when the Heaven's Gate vanished.[1]
Appearance[]
Hoshimi is a small, squat old lady with long grey hair and gold eyes. She wears a helmet which interfaces her with the Observatory's equipment.[2]
Personality[]
She rarely speaks, usually using a passive voice to convey information, but when she does speak aloud, it is an intentional message in itself and her speech is akin to riddles or prose.[3]
Abilities[]
Hoshimi is able to analyse the Gerhin wavelengths of stars.[3] She is also immune to Amber's Contractor abilities, being able to talk while time is frozen.

Hoshimi in the Observatory.
While searching for Mai Kashiwagi, Misaki Kirihara visits Hoshimi, stating that it has been some time since her last visit.[4]
For the most part Hoshimi sits in silence, performing her duties. However, during the Solar Maximum that occurred five years after the disappearance of Heaven's Gate, she begins to talk about how she can hear the stars whispering.[1] She continues to talk about a world of misfortune, a great star and an inescapable disaster.[3]
When the Solar Maximum reaches its peak after 45 days, she again begins to speak, talking poetically about how it is the beginning of the end and talking to the stars.[5]
