Superintendent Naoya Kirihara (霧原 直哉) is the Division Chief of the Japanese police and the father of Misaki Kirihara.
Appearance[]
Naoya has short brown hair, thick eyebrows and brown eyes. He typically wears a suit.[1]
Personality[]
Naoya thinks that Misaki often acts distant to him and expresses displeasure at the fact that he seems to have her future planned out for her.[1]
Part In Story[]
The Black Contractor[]
Naoya joins Misaki at a crime scene.
Naoya appears in the scene of a murder of Richard Lau. After a brief discussion over the crime, he convinces Misaki to have dinner with him. He talks to her about a possible promotion (which would put her out of direct harm). Misaki states that she'll think about it.[1]
After the incident with Alice Wang, Misaki decides not to accept the promotion, stating her abilities are lacking.[2]
As Evening Primrose launch their attack on PANDORA, Naoya phones his daughter to warn her to evacuate Tokyo, refusing to explain why.[3]

- The name Naoya means "straight" (直) (nao) and "how, what, alas, question mark, ?" (哉) (ya).
- Naoya's surname Kirihara means "fog, mist, haze" (霧) (kiri) and "field, plain" (原) (hara).
