She is then later seen soon after the conclusion of Hei's fight with August 7. Here, she activates a series of robotic drones on Mina's command that encapsulate Hei in an energy field and drain him of his powers. However, soon after, the drones malfunction, and Youko can't discover why, unaware of Hei's powers being transferred to [[Suou]], thus causing the error. Later, she is spotted briefly at a train station in Russia, along with Genma and Mina, as a skirmish breaks out between Hei and the forces of the KSB, including [[Tanya]], and she watches Mina and Genma carry out their plan.

Both Genma and Mina make attempts to retrieve her, but are unsuccessful, and Hei escapes the airport with her as his captive.

Later, Hei has her strapped to a chair, using interrogational methods to attempt to make her divulge the location of [[Yin]], known to her as Izanami. With some prodding from Hei, she eventually does, but also reveals both Izanami's nature as an anti-Contractor weapon, and her own fears for Mina concerning Izanami. Hei soothes her by telling her that he'll put a stop to Izanami- this visibly relieves her and Hei leaves her alone afterwards. However, she is later found in the same room by Mina, Goro, and other Section 3 agents, having being brutally murdered by persons unknown, with her body and clothes ravaged and several fingers visibly broken. Mina, shaken, briefly mourns her, apologizing for not being able to protect her, and kisses her corpse, swearing that she'll kill Hei, the person who she believes is responsible, afterwards.

Yōko Sawasaki (沢崎耀子, Sawasaki Yōko) is a staff member of the MIAC team with Genma and Mina, and a former protege of Dr. Schroeder. She usually performs various support duties, such as driving them around or tapping radio communications.

Personality

Youko is generally the most jovial of her team in Section 3, often making merry with both her own team mates and others that she meets. However, her outgoing persona belies a darker, scientific nature, as Youko is able to construct and use alarmingly powerful devices, an example being a series of drones that rob Hei of his Contractor powers.

Part in Story

She is briefly seen in the first episode of Darker than Black: Gemini of the Meteor, albeit with her face shadowed, with Mina and Genma behind her, tapping into a radio conversation between July, April and August 7. Later, after Mina's brief confrontation with Hei, she welcomes her back as she approaches her van, and watches as Mina immediately leaps on Genma and kisses him, startling her. She comments that such a remuneration must be troublesome for her as she gives Mina a bottle of alcohol with which to rinse her mouth out, but is cut off when Mina suddenly kisses her as well to, as Mina states 'wash out the aftertaste', and Youko is eventually left dangling limp.

She is then later seen soon after the conclusion of Hei's fight with August 7. Here, she activates a series of robotic drones on Mina's command that encapsulate Hei in an energy field and drain him of his powers. However, soon after, the drones malfunction, and Youko can't discover why, unaware of Hei's powers being transferred to Suou, thus causing the error. Later, she is spotted briefly at a train station in Russia, along with Genma and Mina, as a skirmish breaks out between Hei and the forces of the KSB, including Tanya, and she watches Mina and Genma carry out their plan.

She is then seen at Section 3's headquarters along with Mina, Genma and Goro Kobayashi, introducing herself to Misaki Kirihara, and again as Misaki is conducting research on the Mitaki documents and Izanami as requested by Oreille, with Youko telling her that she has permission to see Izanami's container.

Later, she appears at a meeting between herself and Mina. The two talk for a while, but, after Mina's grandfather intervenes, Yoko opts for the two to have some privacy, and is escorted out by Hei, once more adopting the persona of Lee Sheng Shung under the guise of a member of the airport staff. Yoko questions where he is taking her, and in response, Hei reveals himself. Yoko attempts to flee, but is easily stopped and knocked out. Both Genma and Mina make attempts to retrieve her, but are unsuccessful, and Hei escapes the airport with her as his captive.

Later, Hei has her strapped to a chair, using interrogational methods to attempt to make her divulge the location of Yin, known to her as Izanami.
